World Mission Committee

The World Mission Committee, comprised of teaching and ruling elders from churches within this Presbytery, exists to promote and support the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ as it is carried out by the Presbytery of the Mid-Atlantic.

  • We point church mission teams to resources.
  • We keep missionaries in front of the presbytery—those sent by World Outreach or other gospel mission agencies—so that churches will pray for and support them.
  • We have 16 missionaries—either pastors or church members of our EPC churches—from six different agencies, who hail from our geographical bounds.
  • Pastors and church members may apply for one-time stipends to assist with a short term gospel mission trip (up to $1,000).

Global Training Network

Doug and Abby Vinez are missionaries to Zambia and Namibia with Global Training Network. Doug is a Presbytery of the Mid-Atlantic Teaching Elder and Abby is a candidate for ordination in the EPC. Together, they have 80+ years of ministry experience. They train pastors and leaders who have limited access to formal biblical education, especially those living in the bush. Doug and Abby work with their dear Zambian friend and GTN colleague, Pastor Percy Muleba, with whom they have partnered for ten years.

Opportunities are sometimes available for others to join them on mission. Pastors or laypersons with strong teaching gifts and good relational skills who are interested in exploring possibilities may contact Doug or Abby at: dkvinez@gmail.com or aavinez@gmail.com. For more information, please check out Doug and Abby's website: www.DougandAbby.org.

Equip International

At Equip International, we believe faith and work go hand-in-hand. We help missionaries live out their faith in Christ in tangible, relevant ways through practical skills training. We offer a variety of multi-day courses at our headquarters in Marion, North Carolina, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

To see a full list of our training courses, click here: https://www.equipinternational.org/training.

Our field-tested courses prepare missionaries to serve in their context, giving them specialized skills to minister to the physical as well as the spiritual needs of those they serve. Our experienced instructors teach missionaries, whether career missionaries or short-term mission trip laypeople, how to be versatile in their settings, creatively using the resources available to serve their communities.

Equip teaches specialized courses that address four major areas of human need: water, shelter, health care, and community development—

  • Water: When people have access to cleaner, safe water, their health improves. Our water courses equip missionaries to provide tools for people to access clean water in their communities, opening up life-giving opportunities that impact generations to come.
  • Shelter: Equip offers a course in building ecoshells, one of the most durable housing options available. These concrete domes can withstand earthquakes, fire, hurricanes, and floods, and have a simple design that is constructed with affordable, accessible materials.
  • Health care: Equip’s medical courses help missionaries remain in the field, stay healthy, and be helpful and effective in their work, giving them practical tools to diagnose and treat common illnesses. Special attention will be given to health problems that are not often seen in the West or included in Western medical training. We have also added training related to treating COVID-19 in the field. Courses are designed for both lay people and trained medical professionals.
  • Community Development: Equip offers Community Health Evangelism (CHE) as a method for community development as ministry, a course that teaches missionaries how to work with community members to identify issues and mobilize resources to achieve positive, sustainable change. Lives and communities are transformed as people come to Christ and work together to address local needs.

Timothy Two Project International

Dr. Bryan and Ann Slater serve in a ministry called Timothy Two Project International (TTPI). Bryan is a TE in the PMA, has served as a pastor in three churches in the PMA, and has been chair of the World Missions Committee for the PMA.

TTPI exists to serve a critical need around the world. We are committed to equipping and training indigenous pastors and ministry leaders with the essential truths of the Christian faith, so they can train others. This way, the mandate from Christ in the Great Commission to “make disciples” can be accomplished in areas of the world where there is little or no formal biblical or theological training available. What sets TTPI apart is the Philosophy of Ministry we use. We travel to cities and villages where pastors need training, but cannot leave their homes and families to go to a Bible College. The Lord raises up a host pastor, who invites 8-12 key pastors in the area to a workshop.

This interactive training week enables local pastors to receive a foundation for their faith. TTPI is based upon 2 Timothy 2:2, “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.” When a pastor finishes a TTPI workshop, he leaves with all of our material in his own language, plus notes he has taken from the dialogue we use to help transfer biblical truths from the head to the heart. He is ready to use this same material to train others. All of our theology is based upon the Westminster Confession of Faith.

If any TE is interested in joining us, we welcome you!  We ask that a TE or biblically well-trained RE sit through one workshop with a TTPI trainer so the TE or RE can experience the model we use. Then we would send him/her out to train another group of pastors on his/her own. For more information, please contact us at bryan@timothytwo.org, 910-547-8891, or go to www.timothytwo.org.
